Since 1916, Excelsior’s client base is as wide as its service offerings, providing industrial gaskets, material and seals for a number of industries and applications.. From across the globe to down the street, industries we serve include:
We have been in the aerospace industry for over 30 years. We sell to a variety of commercial and Government users in the traditional markets as well as space, military arms and other applications. In these industries our parts are used in applications around engines / power, electrical systems and interior components.
Aviation DistributionCustomize Part
Because of our involvement in the aerospace industry, we partner with a number of aerospace distributors who supply large OEM end-users. We supply a broad range of parts to these customers depending on the end users they supply. Typical applications are electrical systems, engine/power systems and interior components.
Agricultural, Construction and Heavy EquipmentCustomize Part
In applications where UV or sunlight is an issue, we often times use EPDM. Otherwise, many solid rubber products are used in this equipment. In areas where the parts are exposed to oils or other chemicals, high grade rubbers are used along with compressed non-asbestos materials as well as inert plastics like Teflon.
Although we do not supply direct the large automotive OEM’s, we do supply a number of Tier 1 automotive manufacturers. Although we are capable of supplying most gaskets used in the automotive industry, we have previously supplied solid rubber and sponge rubber hose protectors that are used around engines; foam supports used for interior armrests; air filter pads; and washers used throughout the vehicle.
At Excelsior, we manufacture new and replacement gaskets for all styles of engines, pumps, hydraulic systems and compressors. We understand that a disruption in production due to equipment break down can be costly. Therefore, Excelsior produces high-quality custom gaskets and seals to help ensure a tight fit between components — reducing the risk of fluid leaks or loss of air pressure.
Electric MotorsCustomize Part
We supply several electric motor OEM’s. In these applications, we supply both gaskets and noise insulation products. The gaskets that we provide are from a wide range of materials and are generally dependent on the environment where the motor is used. Indoor applications typically use standard solid rubber or cork and rubber products.
Fluid ControlCustomize Part
A significant portion of our business involves sealing fluids. This can take many different forms and functions. Generally, the factors that affect the selection of material in these cases are the fluid being contained, temperature and the clamp loads of surrounding surfaces. These factors can also dictate the thickness of the material being used.
We supply a number of products to the food industry both through OEM products as well as service parts to the food producers. These products must meet FDA material approval. FDA approved solid rubber is often used in these circumstances as seals, wipers or gaskets. Some of these products require frequent replacement so we typically stock several FDA approved rubber products in common thicknesses.
At Excelsior, we work hand in hand with our customers to find the right solution for your project and choose materials that will meet specific standards or applicable codes. Our gaskets and seals are commonly used in the hardware industry for a variety of applications including doors, windows, hinges and cabinets.
High-Pressure Gas & WaterCustomize Part
We sell to a number of companies who make products to control water and gas flow. Some of these products are underground, some exposed to weather and others used indoors. Therefore, the material selection can vary depending on where the product is used. Some of these water applications require the material being used to be NSF certified. We have several products to meet these requirements. We commonly use solid rubber for these applications. The environment and pressure will dictate which material is selected.
Electronics and Industrial ControlsCustomize Part
We participate in selling gaskets that are used in industrial controls as well as thermostats. Generally, these gaskets are used around electronics or printed circuit boards, so there is often times very little room. In these cases, we frequently use thin (.015”) cloth-inserted rubber. This product withstands heat well and the cloth-insert provides stability. We have also used cork and rubber blends, plastic shim stock (Mylar) and sponge rubber blends for these applications.
Industrial DistributionCustomize Part
In recent years we have partnered with a number of distributors as well as Companies who perform Vendor-Managed inventory functions for large OEMs. One of our primary goals is that we try to keep as much manufacturing in-house as possible and we also try to keep a wide breadth of raw materials either in house or available on short notice
Excelsior specializes in precision gaskets and seals for the lighting industry. We provide custom gaskets and seals for booth indoor and outdoor lighting applications and products such as flood lights, wall lights, ceiling lights, LED fixtures, architectural and landscape fixtures, fluorescents, and lamps. Excelsior works closely with lighting manufacturers nationwide to provide them with the most effective sealing solutions to meet their most demanding lighting applications.
Oil Field EquipmentCustomize Part
We supply a number of manufacturers and distributors that serve the oil and gas industry. Several customers we have in the compressor, pump or electric motor industry serve the oil and gas industry directly. In addition, we serve a number of companies who supply service, parts or components directly to the oil and gas industry.
Plumbing and Potable WaterCustomize Part
We supply plumbing component parts that come in contact with potable water. In these cases, material typically must meet NSF 51 or 61. Depending on the application, we have a number of rubber and plastic suppliers that allow us access to material to meet these standards.
We have several customers who manufacture high pressure sprayers. These products require seals that are subject to relative high pressure as well as exposure to a variety of liquids being used. As a result, we typically use Teflon in these applications as it is very chemically inert and seals well around high pressure nozzles.
